Five years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Mark, drawn in by his reputation for unmatched expertise in golf shafts. Recently, Mark fitted my son, a former player for Michigan State and on various mini tours in his younger days, with new shafts. The results were astounding—my son’s ball striking has shown remarkable improvement since then. What sets Mark apart is his refusal to get bogged down in the numbers on launch monitors; instead, he always emphasizes watching the ball. It’s a philosophy I appreciate—after all, as Mark often quips, “the ball never lies.” With over 45 years as a PGA member, I can confidently say that I’ve never encountered anyone with a depth of knowledge on golf shafts quite like Mark’s. Furthermore, Mark has significantly eased my job of teaching my students by providing clubs that perfectly suit their abilities.
